SIGFest 2022 Recap:

Our 22nd Annual Event!

SIGFest 2022 was a huge success! We had cool but comfortable weather, lots of enthusiastic participation, amazing food, interesting and informative technical presentations and (of course) really beautiful E30 M3's. For those who couldn't attend, here's a brief recap of the day:

Friday Night SIGFest 2022 Opening Dinner:

We had a great turnout for the SIGFest 2022 dinner, at Fire and Oak in Montvale NJ. The dinner was sponsored by BMW of Tenafly (Thanks Stephen Hourican!), and included great foods, drinks and conversation with fellow BMW E30 M3 enthusiasts and owners.

Saturday: BMWCCA Cars & Coffee / SIGFest 2022 Concours:

Saturday's 22nd Annual SIG Fest Concourse and Picnic event was held at BMW's North American Headquarters, in Woodcliff Lake NJ. In addition to hosting our annual gathering of E30 M3's, BMW NA staged the newest models including M Cars, MINI, Rolls Royce, BMW Motorrad, and BMW sponsored race cars. They also presented several different technical workshops with various engines on display, (including a working S38 on a portable engine stand), and in-depth technical presentations featuring BMW's advanced battery electric vehicle systems. Chefs were busy grilling burgers and sausages, and there was an ice cream truck serving frosty treats.

We had a great turnout, Saturday, with 60 E30 M3's, and about 150 SIG, S14 Members and guests. Those who registered received their registration packet, which included some great gifts from our sponsors- including a custom SIGFest travel mug- courtesy of Mario Langsten at VSR who was at the event. We were also honored to have Marc Norris in attendance this year - all the way from California. Marc owns and operates Bavarian Workshop and is a renown BMW specialist. Be sure to checkout this year's photo gallery.

In the 22 years we have been running this event, I can't remember a year when more pristine cars turned out. Every car was really amazing looking, and no two were alike. There was such a variety of E30 M3's - from a few almost completely bone stock examples to highly-modified custom builds. After several hours of meeting new people, enjoying great food and experiencing incredible E30 M3's- it was time to hand out the car show awards. This year's trophies were custom made LED-backlit acrylic S14-valve cover panels. We always custom-make trophies for SIGFest, and refuse to award something traditional- and this year James created these amazing mementos. We presented the first one to BMW North America (Jay Hanson, Oleg Satanovsky, Tom Plucinsky) as a way of saying Thank You for supporting SIGFest.

It really, truly is a difficult task to pick winners for trophies at this event, so I feel a bit sorry for our judges each year. The collective knowledge of the judges / enthusiasts made selecting the winners a lengthy task, as they poured over the gorgeous examples. The trophy categories and winners can be seen here.

After the awards were presented, we then raffled-off some prizes, donated by our generous sponsors, including a BMW Bicycle, BMW Sunglasses, BMW Rooftop Carriers, Bose Products, Gift Cards, Scale Models, Books and E30 M3 Parts.

IF YOU WON SOMETHING- PLEASE EMAIL THE VENDOR THAT DONATED THE ITEM THAT YOU WON AND THANK THEM. IF YOU DO THIS, IT WILL MAKE IT EASIER FOR US TO GET DONATIONS NEXT YEAR. IF YOU DO NOT REMEMBER WHO DONATED A PARTICULAR ITEM, DROP ME AN EMAIL, AND I WILL REMIND YOU WHO DONATED IT. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE TO OUR EFFORTS NEXT YEAR.

A BIG thanks to all those that work countless hours to help make our event a success: My wife Laura, James' wife Shauna, John and Luke Dunnock, Steve Valeski and the numerous other SIG members who helped out at the event this year. It really would be impossible to run and organize without you.

As event organizers, James, John and I see our role in all of this as setting the stage for you, the stars of the show. These cars are now considered rare and valuable collectors cars, and that means that it's more important than ever to get them out of the garage. Far too many of these cars will become just part of someone's collection never to be seen again, so we encourage their continued use and enjoyment. Without all of the enthusiasm and active participation, the event would fall flat, so thanks for coming out and spending the day (and in many cases- the entire weekend) with us, and making SIGFest 2022 a success.

Sincerely,
Tony Rausch

The SIGFest Team
